Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website you visit. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, remember your preferences, and provide information to site owners. xGAS Station uses a minimal set of cookies — only those that are necessary to operate the site or that you have explicitly consented to.

2. Cookie Consent — Managed by CookieYes

We use CookieYes to manage your cookie preferences. When you first visit xGAS Station, CookieYes displays a consent banner that lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies by category. Your choices are saved and respected on every subsequent visit.

You can change your preferences at any time by clicking the “Cookie Settings” link in the footer, which re-opens the CookieYes preference panel.

Non-essential cookies (analytics) are not loaded until you grant consent. Essential cookies (consent management) are always active.

3. Cookies We Use

3a. Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are required for the site to function and cannot be switched off. They do not collect personal data for marketing or tracking purposes.

CookieProviderDurationPurpose
cookieyes-consentCookieYes1 yearStores your cookie consent preferences (accepted / rejected categories) so your choices are remembered on return visits.

3b. Analytics Cookies Consent required

We use Google Analytics 4 (via Google’s gtag.js) to understand how visitors interact with xGAS Station — for example, which pages are most visited and where users encounter errors. Analytics cookies are only set after you accept the analytics category in the consent banner. If you decline, Google Analytics remains completely inactive and no data is sent.

CookieProviderDurationPurpose
_gaGoogle Analytics2 yearsDistinguishes unique users by assigning a randomly generated client ID.
_ga_*Google Analytics2 yearsPersists GA4 session state. The suffix matches your GA4 Measurement ID.
_gidGoogle Analytics24 hoursDistinguishes users within a single day — supplements _ga.

GA4 is configured with Consent Mode v2. Ad storage, ad personalisation, and ad user data are permanently denied regardless of consent choices.

4. Error Monitoring — Sentry

We use Sentry for error and crash monitoring. Sentry collects JavaScript stack traces and browser metadata to help us identify and fix bugs.

Sentry operates primarily via in-memory state and session storage rather than persistent cookies. It does not set long-lived tracking cookies. Sentry is classified as a functional / necessary service because its purpose is to maintain application stability — not to track user behaviour for marketing. As such, it is active regardless of analytics consent.

Sentry is configured to avoid capturing personally identifiable information such as wallet addresses, names, or email addresses. See Sentry’s Privacy Policy for further details.

5. Local Storage and Session Storage

In addition to cookies, xGAS Station uses browser storage mechanisms that are not technically cookies but serve similar functions:

  • Theme preference (localStorage, key: theme-preference) — stores your light/dark mode choice. No expiry. Never transmitted to any server.
  • Wallet connection state (localStorage, managed by your wallet provider) — set by the wallet connector you choose (e.g. MetaMask). Governed by that wallet’s own terms.

6. Managing Your Preferences

You have several options for controlling cookies:

  • CookieYes consent panel: Click “Cookie Settings” in the site footer to review and update your choices at any time.
  • Browser settings: Most browsers let you block or delete cookies via their settings. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect site functionality.
  • Google Analytics opt-out: Install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on to prevent GA from collecting data in all sites you visit.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected with an updated “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If we introduce new categories of cookies that require consent, the CookieYes banner will re-appear to collect your updated preferences.
